PALS Training
This training program provides participants with comprehensive instruction on the operation of a Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy (PALS) system, covering system setup, positron source preparation, and signal tracing through each NIM module, including the detector, CFDD, TAC, and MCA.
Participants will also receive hands-on training in data analysis, using the LT, FREEVOLUME, and MELT software packages, as well as RESOLUTION and PATHFIT when required.
Participants who successfully complete the training will be awarded a certificate of completion.
DBS Training
This training program provides comprehensive instruction on the operation of a Doppler Broadening Spectroscopy (DBS) system, including system setup, positron source preparation, safe filling of the Dewar with liquid nitrogen, and optimization of the spectroscopic amplifier.
Participants will also learn how to analyze the Doppler-broadened energy spectrum to accurately determine the S, W, and P parameters, enabling detailed characterization of defect types and concentrations.
Participants who successfully complete the training will be awarded a certificate of completion.
VEPOS Training
This training program provides comprehensive instruction on the operation of a Variable Energy Positron Beam System (VEPOS). It covers vacuum system preparation, cooling of the cold head using a cryostat, and neon moderator growth via the LabVIEW control program.
The program also includes vacuum preparation of the test chamber (TS), sample loading procedures, and hands-on instruction in Doppler Broadening Spectroscopy (DBS) measurement techniques. Practical, hands-on system training is provided throughout the course.
Participants who successfully complete the training will be awarded a certificate of completion.
